Channing Tatum has recently accused his ex-wife Jenna Dewan of using a “delay tactic” in their ongoing divorce battle. Tatum’s latest filing, obtained by E! News on August 28, challenges Dewan’s recent motion to disqualify his lawyers from their case. He argues that this move is an attempt to stall the proceedings, which are scheduled to go to trial in just three months.

In the court documents, Tatum criticizes Dewan for filing the motion so close to the trial date. He claims that this action is a deliberate attempt to distract the court and delay the legal process. Tatum insists that Dewan’s request is baseless and lacks both legal and factual support.

Tatum points out that Dewan has never been a client of either of his law firms, so his lawyers do not have any confidential information about her that could be used unfairly in court. He describes Dewan’s filing as frivolous and argues that it is solely intended to push back the trial date.

Additionally, Tatum has asked the court to require Dewan to pay him $20,000 for the legal fees incurred due to this delay. He hopes this financial penalty will discourage her from making similar attempts to stall the process in the future.

This latest dispute is part of a long-running legal battle between the former couple. They have been legally separated since 2019, following their eight-year marriage, and are still working through various financial issues. Tatum and Dewan share an 11-year-old daughter, Everly.

Back in May, Tatum had accused Dewan of trying to delay the proceedings after she alleged that he had improperly handled earnings from his Magic Mike franchise. Dewan claimed that Tatum put some of the franchise’s profits into an irrevocable trust and transferred licensing rights without informing her. Tatum denied these allegations, stating that they were part of a strategy to prolong the case and increase litigation costs.

In April 2024, Dewan requested that both she and Tatum testify about all aspects of their marriage, including their financial activities and business dealings. She also asked for various financial documents, including tax returns and records related to the Magic Mike franchise.

Tatum countered Dewan’s claims, asserting that the intellectual property from Magic Mike was created during their marriage and that his post-separation efforts had significantly contributed to its value. He provided evidence that he had never denied Dewan access to their financial records during their marriage or since their separation.

As the case continues, both Tatum and Dewan have included several witnesses in their preliminary lists. Dewan’s list features people involved with the Magic Mike films, while Tatum’s includes Dewan’s fiancé, Steve Kazee.

The ongoing legal battle between Tatum and Dewan highlights the complexities of their divorce and the difficulties in resolving financial disputes.
